The Healing Process

Microblading results depend heavily on how you take care of your brows post-procedure. Every client’s skin responds differently to a microblading treatment.  This information acts only as a guideline and is worst case scenarios. On average, clients experience a very pleasant and smooth healing process.

Results are not guaranteed.  Please be gentle with your brows after you have been microbladed. Understand that your new brows are made up of several tiny open wounds.  You will want to keep them clean and dry.

DAY 1

These examples are worst case scenarios and provided so you can understand what the most extreme healing process can be like. Most clients experience a mild version of these scenarios and many report back that it was not as bad as they expected. Please remember it is just 10 days of healing for brows that will last several years.

You’ve finally finished your long awaited appointment and “Oh My GOODNESS!” You are in shock and so dang excited at how beautiful they came out. You’ve asked yourself why you’ve put this off for so long because you just can’t believe that THIS IS YOUR FACE! These are YOUR BROWS! You can’t wait to call your family and friends and show off how gorgeous you look! Do it girlfriend… you deserve to!

Immediately following the procedure, you may experience minimal discomfort on the treated area.  Some clients describe a sensation similar to a sunburn, including redness and swelling.  These symptoms usually subside within 24 to 48 hours.

DAY 2-4

You wake up and remember Vanessa warned you that they would look fuller and bolder today, but you’re positive you’ll be okay with it. You go check yourself in the mirror and “OH WOW! Maybe I’m not okay with it.” Yep, they do look thicker and darker than expected. That’s okay, because you’re prepared for this, and a few days of discomfort are TOTALLY worth having gorgeous, face framing brows designed just for you.

Remember, people do not notice things about us as much as we think they’re noticing. They look big TO YOU, but others just think you’ve put extra brow makeup on today. Own your brows! This bold phase will be over before you know it.

The first week the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bigger than the final result due to the wound healing process. Redness and swelling may still be present. It is also possible to still feel soreness/discomfort for a few days.

DAY 5-10

“Okay, they finally don’t look so big and dark. They do feel tight and dry though,” you tell yourself as you approach day 5. You’re right on track, and guess what… You’re Almost Finished With The Healing Process! Whoo Hoo!

During the next few days you may experience some light flaking of your skin, up to a thicker type of scab flaking off. Every person heals differently, and some people may scab more than others.

Minimal scabbing and flaking will occur throughout the first two weeks of the healing period.  DO NOT scratch or pull off the scabs. This can result in loss of pigmentation and skin damage.  Please allow your scabs to flake off naturally.

DAY 11-28

Yay! You’re done with your healing instructions! You’ve followed them so well that they are going to heal like a dream. The worst is over. You head to the mirror... and, “What the? Why do they look so faded and light? Are they supposed to look like this? I’m going to call Vanessa! She needs to fix this!”

Before you do, this is all normal and part of your skin’s healing process. It’s a strange phase that we like to call the “ghost phase” or the “light phase.” It is out of our control as your skin does its thing, but in a few weeks the color will reappear and we will be able to see your true results.

The great thing is that if you feel like you need it, you can start to wear eyebrow makeup again beginning day 11!

Skin takes on average 28 days to regenerate.  During this phase, your skin is renewing itself, and covering your implanted pigment.  This is why they look much lighter than your original results. Eventually your skin will finish with the regenerative cycle and reveal your true color.

WEEK 4

“I can’t believe I get to wake up to these every day! I can’t wait for my follow-up appointment. I definitely want to go a bit thicker and maybe even darker.” It’s been one whole month since you’ve gotten your brows done. Isn’t that insane! Can you believe how easy it’s been to get ready, and how more awake you look with fuller and more defined eyebrows? Yes… yes, it IS amazing!

Your brows should be showing true results between weeks 4 through weeks 6. Your color has reappeared and your brows look more prominent. Remember that it takes two appointments to perfect your brows, and there will be some tweaks and changes we will need to do at your follow-up appointment.

You are technically still in the healing process until about 6-8 weeks after your procedure.  Until this time will the true color show.  Your skin is still regenerating during this time so make sure to have a lot of patience with it, because it is a magical thing, and you should be so proud of yourself for riding this roller coaster that is the microblading healing process.  You may think at times the color is too light or faded.  If by your follow-up they are still too light, we can darken them up or adjust them. Please remember that color will never be as vibrant as the first day, and eyebrow permanent makeup will always end up looking softer and more natural once fully healed.

AFTER TOUCHUP

“Wow, just… WOW. I was already so happy with my first appointment, how is it possible they can look even better?!” That’s because the follow-up appointment is pure magic. We work on creating texture, density, and depth. Your brows will look 100x’s better!

You will still need to follow aftercare instructions, but your results will look so much better this time! You’ve already been through the healing process once and perfected it, this next time will be a breeze.

After healing you get to enjoy your beautiful investment for 1-3 years! Lucky you! You will be the envy of your friends and family, because you will have sweat proof, kid proof, water proof brows!!

Once fully healed from your follow-up please avoid any harsh chemicals on your brows, protect them from the sun, and keep them moisturized! Maintain your shape and color by booking a color boost appointment every 1.5-2.5 years.

Congratulations on your new eyebrows, and welcome to the perfect brow club ;)
